Open Doors Community School (ODCS) is an open enrollment public charter school which does not charge tuition and does not administer entrance examinations. ODCS considers all students for admission. The school requires records from the former school, any available test scores and a completed enrollment packet. ODCS admits students of any race, religion, color, gender or national or ethnic origin to all the rights privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, or national origin in the administration of its educational or admission policies. Open Doors Community School reserves the right to refuse to admit any pupil who has been expelled from another educational institution or who is in the process of being expelled.
In accordance with Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) 15-184 A, Open Doors Community School has developed policies regarding enrollment preferences for students returning to ODCS who attended the school during the previous school year, siblings of ODCS students, children of ODCS employees, and children of employees or leased employees of the school, employees of the management organization whose activities are primarily related to the operations of the school, members of the governing body of the school or directors, officers, partners or board members of the charter holder. Open Doors Community School’s Enrollment Preference Policies follow:
Enrollment preference will be given to students who meet the following criteria in the order listed:
- To students re-enrolling in ODCS who attended during the previous school year;
- To students who are children of employees or leased employees of the school, employees of the management organization whose activities are primarily related to the operations of the school, members of the governing body of the school or directors, officers, partners or board members of the charter holder; and
- To students who are siblings of ODCS students.
No preference will be granted to students who do not meet the above criteria.
In the event ODCS reaches maximum capacity or individual grades reach maximum capacity, prospective students will be placed on a waiting list and assigned a lottery number. When a vacancy occurs, through a random lottery of prospective students placed on the waiting list, a student will be selected and offered admission. Those prospective students offered admission through the lottery selection will be formally notified and will be required to accept placement within five business days. If placement is declined or no response is received within the given time frame, another student will be randomly selected through the lottery and the same terms of placement apply.
